“The New Mrs. Collins,” by Quanie Miller book review

collins_ebook(1)This is a story of a woman named Leena who is left at the altar. She is totally blind sided when she discovers that not only has her finance cheated on her, but is planning to marry the other woman shortly after their canceled wedding day. It wouldn’t have been so bad if she and her ex-finance didn’t have a child together and lived in a small town where the problems and woes of others is the main form of entertainment for the towns folk.

Leena is concerned that her son’s stepmother is not what she seems and goes looking into the new Mrs. Collins past. What she finds will turn her life and those of the towns people upside down.

This was a very well written story that was easy to read. It was a page turn to say the least. It draws you into the story and makes it hard for you to stop reading it. The characters had depth and were well scripted. Even with a supernatural storyline, it felt like I was right in the middle of the story.

With that being said, I gave this book 5 stars which is rare for me. I can usually find something I don’t like. Even the ending was good.

Guess What I’m Reading? “The New Mrs. Collins” by Quanie Miller

collins_ebook(1)
This is a good read so far. I’m almost done and I can’t wait to see what happens at the end.

In the small town of Carolville, Louisiana, no one knows that Adira Collins inherited mystic powers from her great-grandmother. All they know is that she’s beautiful, poised, graceful, and ruthless—especially when it comes to love. And no one knows that more than Leena Williams, who was all set to marry the man of her dreams until Adira swooped into town and stole the man’s heart.

Being left at the altar is bad enough, but Leena and her ex share custody of their son, so she has to see the new Mrs. Collins on a regular basis.
And it burns every time she does.
But soon, Leena starts to suspect that there is more to Adira Collins than meets the eye. And it’s not because she owns some
kinky lingerie shop or allegedly insulted the pastor’s wife: it’s the strange way she can make a door close without touching it, or take one look at something and make it drop dead at her feet. Leena starts digging for answers and soon discovers that, unlike her public persona, Adira’s true nature is somewhere on the other side of grace. She also learns, a little too late, that some secrets are better left buried.
About the Author:
Quanie Miller grew up in New Iberia, Louisiana. She fell in love with reading at an early age and spent most of her time at the Iberia Parish Library discovering authors like R.L. Stine and Christopher Pike (she was often found walking back home from the library with a stack of books that went up to her chin). She holds degrees from Louisiana State University and San Jose State University. She has been the recipient of the James Phelan Literary Award, the Louis King Thore Scholarship, the BEA Student Scriptwriting Award, and the Vicki Hudson Emerging Writing Prize. She loves writing stories about strong willed women who can’t keep themselves out of trouble. She lives in South Carolina with her husband and is currently, as always, working on another novel. To find out more about Quanie and her works in progress visit quanietalkswriting.com.

Zombies in Love by Nora Fleischer Book Review

Zombies In Love - Nora FleischerJack Kershaw just wants to hold on to his new job at Lisa Alioto’s pizza parlor, and to keep Lisa from finding out that he’s a zombie. But Jack learns that he and Lisa are in serious danger. His second chance at life is the inadvertent result of a lab experiment by two graduate students, and Winthrop University– a school which knows how to keep its secrets– will do anything necessary to conceal that someone on campus raised the dead. With the help of Boston’s zombie horde, can Jack and Lisa escape Winthrop’s sinister clutches?

“Zombies in Love” is a quick read about a man who wakes up and finds out he’s really dead. His life has been a series of failures, but as a undead person he has finally realized what’s important to him. The only problem is he’s not the only one who is undead and the people who created him want to erase any evidence of their disturbing experiment.

This is a very entertaining and funny tail, but would have been a lot better if it had been edited properly. It was hard at times to get into the story due to the misspelled words and grammatical errors throughout the story. The format was also a bit strange, as it read like a college term paper instead of a novel.

I gave Zombies in Love two stars as the cover may have gotten me, but I would have been pissed off after the first chapter if I had purchased this book.

Guess what I’m reading? “Zombies in Love” by Nora Fleischer

Zombies In Love - Nora Fleischer“Jack Kershaw just wants to hold on to his new job at Lisa Alioto’s pizza parlor, and to keep Lisa from finding out that he’s a zombie.

Nora Fleischer has a PhD from Winthrop University, and promises every word of this story is true. She lives in Minneapolis with her lovable husband Sven and children Wolfgang and Anastasia.”

A little something for the zombie lovers. Over half way finished and I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen.
